Sydney FC secure final playoff spot

SYDvPERSydney FC had what it took today, defeating Perth Glory 2-1 at Allianz Stadium in their final home and away game of the season, and securing the last remaining finals spot.

Sydney faced off against an eager Glory, and it had been a big few weeks for the visitors with Jacob Burns announcing his retirement, a win over Central Coast, and the narrow avoidance of the wooden-spoon.

Glory see off Mariners amid controversy

PERvCCMIn controversial circumstances, Perth Glory defeated Central Coast 3-1 on Saturday night in Jacob Burns’ final home game as a Perth Glory player.

The Mariners faced off against a recently energised Glory, with Kenny Lowe releasing a side featuring two ‘injured’ players, William Gallas and Rostyn Griffiths.

In just the 8th minute, Burns was deemed by referee Stephen Lucas to have been felled inside the penalty area, with Steven McGarry converting the subsequent spot-kick.

Jets grounded by late Perth fightback

PERvNEWThe atmosphere was electric as the Perth Glory shot down the Newcastle Jets 2-1 on Sunday at nib Stadium, in front of 5,837 fans, courtesy of two late goals.

As the Glory kicked off, the eager Jets kept up the pace. A questionable call on a handball by Emile Heskey ignited the Glory fans into a chant, as the home side continued to attack goal with great efficiency.
