Round Recap – Week 15

RoundRecapThere were some important results for clubs inside the top 6 in round 15, as the finals picture became even more unsettled than it already was.

Melbourne Victory made a statement with a 4-0 thrashing of Brisbane Roar on Friday night, before Adelaide cemented their 6th position with a 3-1 win over the Mariners on Saturday.

Sydney FC’s win in the Derby and Melbourne City’s draw with Perth on Saturday night ensured that the top teams couldn’t break away from the rest of the pack. Then, on Sunday, Newcastle earned their first win since round 4 with a 3-1 win over the struggling Wellington Phoenix.

Goal of the week

For Kosta Barbarouses’ second goal on Friday night, it took three individual pieces of skill to setup. Then, finally, the Kiwi international had to execute a perfect header to beat Jamie Young’s diving effort. A brilliant team goal to seal an impressive win for the Victory on Friday:

Player of the Season

Aaron Mooy gained some ground on Mitch Nichols, with a 2 vote performance against the Glory on Saturday. Elsewhere, Romeo Castelen and Craig Goodwin made big moves toward the leaders:
