2011/12 Review: Adelaide United

It was a tumultuous season for Adelaide United in 2011/12, with the sacking of Rini Coolen mid-way through the season after a less than stellar start that yielded only 2 wins from the opening 11 games. Hopes were high pre-season with the signings of Socceroos Jon McKain and Dario Vidosic, and the return of Bruce Djite to Hindmarsh Stadium. However, the season didn’t start as planned. Adelaide scored only 8 goals and conceded 21 in the 11 games Coolen managed before his eventual sacking. Management and the fans weren’t happy with the formation being fielded by Rini, as it was neither producing results at the pointy end of the field nor was it keeping the opposition out at the other. Fantasy week 13a wrap-up

Because of Fox Sports Fantasy’s choice to split up week 13 into two rounds of 5 matches (rather than the 1 round of 10 matches as the A-League fixture outlines), there will be two fantasy wrap-up’s this week. This first round (henceforth known as week 13a) covers the 5 matches played across the New Year break. The second round (let’s call it week 13b) covers the marathon round this Wednesday with 5 matches from 1pm to midnight AEDST.

So, now that’s been established, week 13a was an interesting week to say the least, with only 12 strikes hitting the back of the net from Thursday through Saturday. What does this mean for fantasy scores this week? Well, unless you so happened to have a good selection of the players that scored goals over the weekend, or the majority of your defence kept one of the 4 clean sheets across the 5 matches, you were going to struggle.
