Fantasy A-League Wrap – Week 20
A week without off-field controversy was just the tonic for the A-League this week, and with 14 goals, 3 clean sheets, and a red card to go around, it was an action packed week full of scoring opportunities for fantasy managers. You must be sick of it by now, but you can STILL join up to our Ultimate A-League and Pelé Sports A-League fantasy competition, to have the chance to win a $100 Pelé voucher every single week! Just use the league code 955435 to join up at the official A-League fantasy website! But, for now, onto all the fantasy related business you need to know!
Top scoring players:
Three of the four top scoring players this week come from the Central Coast Mariners, following their comfortable 5-0 win over the Phoenix. Daniel McBreen was the week’s best, totting up an impressive 30 points. Teammate Bernie Ibini-Isei was next best on 28 points, courtesy of his brace of goals, with the Heart’s Nick Kalmar a further 4 points back on 24. Mariners’ full back Josh Rose rounds out the top four this week with 22 points.
Value picks:
It really is getting more and more difficult to find value trade opportunities. However, we have got a few to offer this week:
- Down back, Josh Rose ($217,400) is a great value pick-up in defence. He’s played every match so far this season, and is averaging a staggering 11.3 points per game despite only having scored the one goal.
- In goals, Eugene Galekovic ($158,600) kept a clean sheet in last week’s game against the Victory, and if Adelaide can maintain the form they showed against their southern rivals, then Galekvoic may be headed for plenty more points in the weeks to come.
- Across the middle of the park, we like Central Coast’s Nick Montgomery. At just $187,100, Montgomery won’t break the bank, and is averaging just under 9 points per week for fantasy managers at the moment. With Central Coast’s amazing form, and four out of their remaining seven games at home, Montgomery may be just the tonic for your midfield lineup.
- It’s hard to fathom that the Heart’s Richard Garcia is still priced under $190,000 – but he is, and as a result, is one of the best value propositions for fantasy managers. He’s had a few lean weeks recently, but with games against the Jets, Sydney and Wellington to come, a turnaround may be on the books for Garcia.
Worth noting:
On the injury front, Simon Colosimo, Fred, Michael Beauchamp, Scott Jamieson, Massimo Murdocca, Henrique and Leo Bertos all return from various ailments. However, Sam Mitchinson, Archie Thompson and Ivan Franjic all joined the injury list this week. Make sure to read up on the full A-League injury list to find out more.
Adama Traore, Cassio, Adriano Pellegrino, Joel Griffiths and Jeremy Brockie are all suspended this week, while Terry McFlynn, Nigel Boogaard, Matt Jurman and Ben Sigmund will all return after having served their one match bans. Also, Yairo Yau and Mark Milligan both return this week from international duty with Panama and the Socceroos respectively.
If you’d like more info on suspensions, injuries and general ins-and-outs, we recommend reading up on the ins-and-outs list.
